PageChime Privacy Policy

Effective: July 17, 2026

PageChime is a local-first Chrome extension that lets a user select a value on a webpage, check that value periodically, and receive a notification when it changes. PageChime has no account system, analytics, advertising, or developer-operated server.

Information handled by the extension

When you create a watch, PageChime stores the following information in Chrome on your device:

• The watched page URL, hostname, and page title.
• Selectors and basic element metadata needed to find the value again.
• The selected value, its immediately previous value after a change, and the time of that change.
• The chosen check interval, last-check time, status, and limited error information.
• Short-lived session data used to recover an interrupted check or clean up a newly requested site permission if a picker is abandoned.

This information is stored with chrome.storage.local or, for short-lived coordination state, chrome.storage.session. It is not stored with Chrome Sync.

How the information is used

PageChime uses this information only to provide its page-change tracking feature. Checks load a user-selected page in a short-lived inactive tab, locate the saved element, compare its current value with the saved value, and update local state.

Loading a watched page makes a normal request from your browser directly to that website. The website may receive information normally included in a browser request and handles that information under its own privacy policy. PageChime does not proxy those requests.

Sharing and transmission

The PageChime developer does not receive, collect, sell, or share watched URLs, selected webpage content, browsing activity, or change history. PageChime does not transmit this information to a developer-operated server or to third parties. Notifications use generic wording so selected values are not placed in the notification body.

Retention and deletion

Watch information remains on your device until you remove the watch or uninstall the extension. Removing the final watch for a site also asks Chrome to remove the extension’s access to that site. You can pause or remove any watch from the extension popup.

Permissions

PageChime uses Chrome permissions only for its page-change tracking purpose:

• activeTab reads the current page title and URL after you open the extension.
• Optional site access is requested only when you choose to track a value on that site.
• scripting runs the element picker and checker on user-selected sites.
• alarms schedules checks while Chrome is available.
• notifications reports detected changes.
• storage saves watches locally on your device.

PageChime’s use of information received from Chrome APIs complies with the Chrome Web Store User Data Policy, including the Limited Use requirements.
